Hong Kong pro-democracy media tycoon Jimmy Lai told a court on Wednesday that his now-shuttered newspaper Apple Daily represented "the core values of the people of Hong Kong". "The core values of Apple Daily are actually the core values of the people of Hong Kong... rule of law, freedom, pursuit of democracy," Lai said as he testified in his foreign collusion trial under Hong Kong's national security law. hol/reb/cwl ...
