Japan's Shimane-2 Nuclear Reactor Resumes Commercial Power Generation After 13-Year Hiatus

TOKYO, January 10 (Sputnik) - The second reactor at Japan's Shimane nuclear power plant (NPP) has resumed commercial power generation after 13-year shutdown, the plant's operator, Chugoku Electric Power Company, announced on Friday. "We announce that Shimane NPP Reactor 2 (a type of boiling water reactor (BWR) with a rated electrical output of 820,000 kW) has resumed commercial power generation," the company said in a statement.
