NKURENKURU, 21 FEB (NAMPA) - A 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at Ncumcara village in the Kavango West Region.
Police Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga confirmed the incident, saying the rape allegedly took place during October 2024 at an unknown date and time at the Ncumcara/Mile 20 Village in the Ncamagoro Constituency.
It is alleged that the minor fell pregnant in the process.
Muronga said the suspect was charged with rape, immoral practice and contravention of the Child Care and Protection Act 3 of 2015.
Police investigations continue.
In another case, two suspects, aged 38 and 30, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly dealing in cannabis at Ou Village in the Kavango West Region.
According to Muronga, the two were arrested around 13h00 after a tip off that they had collected the drugs at Katwitwi. The police then set up a roadblock between Nkurenkuru and Katwitwi on the B10 road.
They were found with three parcels of cannabis; each the size of a loaf of bread with a mass of 1.83 kilogrammes and a total value of approximately N.dollars 9 150.
Muronga said the suspects are detained at the Nkurenkuru police holding cells and will appear on Friday in the Kahenge Periodical Court.
