NKURENKURU, 05 APR (NAMPA)- Governor of the Kavango West Region, Verna Sinimbo, has called on residents to prioritise food security by producing their own food.
Speaking during her welcoming and handover ceremony in Nkurenkuru on Friday, Sinimbo noted that with the presence of the river and fertile soil, the people of Kavango West have the potential to produce enough food not only for their own consumption but also for horticultural purposes.
“Let us join hands, work hard and let start produce our own foods. We can do it and I know we can, because I remember being invited by the former governor to come address the group of horticulture farmers here, we are going to continue to make sure we produce our own food,” said Sinimbo.
In her acceptance speech, she said she fully recognises the weight of her responsibility and is committed to executing her duties with diligence, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the people of Kavango West.
“There are non-negotiable principles outlined in my letter of appointment that I must uphold throughout my tenure. These guiding principles will shape my leadership over the next five years, ensuring accountability, transparency, and a performance-driven approach to governance,” said Sinimbo.
She emphasised that her mandate is to ensure that government institutions, collectively, are geared and aligned to serve the community of the region without fail.
“We will strive to transform these priorities into tangible outcomes, ensuring that the Swapo manifesto becomes not just a political promise, but a living reality for the people of Namibia,” said Sinimbo.
She also highlighted that meaningful development will only be achieved through cooperation among all stakeholders, stating that the region’s success will depend on collaborative efforts.
“By fostering unity, teamwork, and a shared vision, we can accelerate development, address socio-economic challenges, and create lasting opportunities for our people,” stated Sinimbo.
In conclusion, Sinimbo pledged to prioritise inclusive engagement, open communication, and a results-driven approach to governance.
“I will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that policies are implemented effectively, resources are allocated responsibly, and development initiatives reach the communities that need them the most,” she said.
