Berlin Zoo's much-loved hippopotamus Nicole has died

Berlin (dpa) - The much-loved 24-year-old hippopotamus named Nicole who lived in Berlin Zoo died on Wednesday after suffering from a very serious illness. Nicole's great-grandfather was the locally famed hippopotamus Knautschke, one of just 91 animals that survived World War II at the Berlin Zoo. Zookeepers euthanized the hippopotamus after determining that her illness could not be effectively treated and was causing the animal increasing problem......
