WINDHOEK, 31 JAN (NAMPA)- Minister of Justice Yvonne Dausab on Thursday defended Palestine at The Hague, in the Netherlands, during a meeting with eight other countries aimed at coordinating measures against Israel’s alleged violation of international laws.

Dausab spoke about Namibia’s blockade of a vessel carrying military shipments destined for Israel last year and emphasised Namibia’s condemnation of Germany’s decision to support Israel in the genocide case brought by South Africa. She also highlighted the genocide committed by Germany in Namibia between 1904 and 1908.

“The world cannot standby and watch, when we made a commitment more than 75 years ago, that never again shall the world suffer atrocities. We cannot be and must not be selective about protecting lives regardless of who the victims are, all lives matter, Palestinian lives matter,” Dausab said.

The participating countries are Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Malaysia, Namibia, Senegal, and South Africa, according to a statement from the ministry.

The nations discussed their shared commitment to upholding international law, responding to threats against the International Criminal Court, and defending Palestinian rights.

A press statement released by the Ministry of Justice said that following the meeting, the nations are expected to form The Hague Group and will announce coordinated legal, economic and diplomatic measures to hold Israel accountable for its alleged violations of international law, including its ongoing actions in Gaza.
