NKURENKURU, 25 OCT (NAMPA) - Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Albert Kawana, inaugurated the Ncamagoro Police Station in Kavango West on Friday.
The complex, built at a cost of N.dollars 15.6 million, comprises a charge office, an office block with three offices, two barracks with eight rooms, two-bedroom houses, a kitchen, a recreational area, a septic tank, a borehole with a solar-powered pump, a 10 000-litre water tank, and a security fence.
Kawana noted that the new station along the highway between Rundu and Mururani will serve people in remote areas and is “not just a building, but rather a symbol of the government’s dedication to the safety and security of all citizens.”
He said it would provide residents with the peace of mind they deserve. He encouraged community members to cooperate with the police by reporting criminal cases and warned against harbouring criminals, even if they are family members.
He affirmed the government’s belief that “no community should be left behind” and that all Namibians deserve access to high-quality public services.
Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force, Joseph Shikongo, stated while speaking at the same event that the station would serve as a beacon of hope and a testament to the government’s dedication to maintaining security in Ncamagoro and the broader Kavango West Region. He highlighted the strategic location of the station, which will serve a growing community with diverse needs and provide a critical point of law enforcement.
Shikongo said residents can now look forward to faster response times, improved service delivery, and a more visible police presence in their community.
He urged the officers stationed there to carry out their duties with the highest levels of professionalism, integrity and dedication.
“There must be no boundaries when serving the citizens,” said Shikongo.
The Ncamagoro Police Station also received a brand-new Toyota Hilux 2.4 GD6 4x4 single cab, valued at over N.dollars 600 000 to help the officers in carrying out their mandate effectively.
