September rise in German factory orders surprises analysts

Frankfurt (dpa) - German factory orders rose 4.2% on the month in September, the federal statistical office, Destatis, announced on Wednesday. The preliminary figure exceeded analysts' expectations of a rise of 1.5% and reversed the sharp decline posted in August. Excluding the large orders that tend to skew monthly figures, German manufacturers received 2.2% more orders than in August. August showed a decline on the month in real terms of 5.4%,......
